Dodgers Re-Sign Teoscar Hernández to Three-Year, $66 Million Deal to Bolster Championship Run

Dodgers Re-Sign Teoscar Hernández to Three-Year, $66 Million Deal to Bolster Championship Run

Certainly L.A.’s preference for retaining the free-agent outfielder was steady during the weeks of vigorous negotiations and discussions.

That dream then came true on Friday. Arguably one of the most prized assets from the prior year’s Dodgers major league team squad, Hernández signed with the Dodgers after agreeing to a three consecutive year $66 million deal, according to some people with knowledge about the signing, though they cannot publicly disclose such information. There are also provisions for a fourth year with a $15 million option should the reigning champs prepare for the 2025’s championship hunt. So, the acquisition makes a significant leap to continue the Dodgers’ endeavours to protect and prolong their reign as the champions.

There was no way the Dodgers were going to enter the winter without ensuring Hernández remained with the team. The first baseman, who hit 33 homers and drove in 99 runs while batting .272 a year ago, earned the second All-Star nod after signing a one-year, $23.5-million deal the previous summer.

During the Dodgers’ championship winning playoff campaign, he delivered some of his finest performances, such as the equalizing double in the Dodgers memorable come from behind win against the New York Yankees in the World Series game 5 and the decisive home run in the fifth game of the National League Division Series against the SDP.

“The Dodgers are the priority obviously,” Hernández said after the championship parade last month. “I’m going to do everything in my power to come back.”

Hernández is expected to continue as a run-producet force for Freddie Freeman, Mookie Betts and Shohei Ohtani. He drove in 99 runs, seventh in the NL last season while his .943 OPS with RISP was second on the team.

And with the popular sunflower seed celebrations and early companionship with Ohtani off the field he fitted perfectly in the Dodger’s locker-room chemistry. Other athletes, who were chiefly younger like Andy Pages, were also affected in a more durable manner by his patronizing.

There were hitches in negotiation even though the home coming of the kid seemed to be within the comfort of his family. Hernández leads and produces in high leather moments but as he reaches the twilight of his career he must skip the decline that often accompanies ageing mashes.

The Dodgers ultimately stayed with the tried-and-true Hernández, re-signing him after he made crucial contributions to their championship team. He will continue to be a key component of their championship defense, propelling them toward another championship, thanks to their decision to secure his return.
