Iniesta to Play in Star-Studded "El Clasico" in Tokyo to Mark Retirement

Spanish football icon Andrés Iniesta will conclude his legendary career with a high-profile exhibition match at Tokyo's Ajinomoto Stadium on December 15. The event, dubbed "El Clasico in Tokyo," will showcase a thrilling lineup of former stars from both FC Barcelona and Real Madrid, two of the biggest rivals in world football. Iniesta, 40, announced his retirement on October 8 after a glittering 24-year career, which included four UEFA Champions League titles and a World Cup victory in 2010, where he famously scored the extra-time winner in the final against the Netherlands.

In this special farewell match, Iniesta will be joined by fellow football legends including Xavi Hernandez, Rivaldo, Javier Mascherano, Luis Figo, Roberto Carlos, and Iker Casillas. The star-studded lineup will also feature ex-Barcelona players such as Bojan Krkic, Rafa Marquez, Ludovic Giuly, Adriano, and Javier Saviola, alongside former Real Madrid stars Julio Baptista, Steve McManaman, Savio, and Ivan Campo. More players are expected to be announced in the lead-up to the event.

Iniesta’s remarkable journey includes his final season with Japan's Vissel Kobe, where he helped the team win their first major trophy, the Emperor's Cup, in 2020. After his time in Japan, he played for the Emirates Club in the United Arab Emirates before deciding to retire. The upcoming exhibition match will be a fitting celebration of his illustrious career and his immense contribution to the world of football.
