Kane Nets Four in Bayern's 9-2 Demolition of Dinamo Zagreb on Historic Night

Kane Nets Four in Bayern's 9-2 Demolition of Dinamo Zagreb on Historic Night

The 9-2 victory over Dinamo Zagreb on Tuesday can be attributed to a brilliant performance by Harry Kane, the forward for Bayern Munich who bagged four goals. Bayern’s triumph was sealed that evening through his goal which saw him clinch the record for the most goals scored by a single club in a Champions League match.

Kane doubled England’s lead with a calm penalty in the 19th minute of the match and went on to become the first Englishman to score 33 goals in the European Cup. Prodded by Kane’s ingenuity on the field, Bayern’s ferocious attack secured three goals in the first half.

Harry Kane was at it again when he set a new record as the first player to successfully take three penalties in a European Cup match, which only added to his heroics when he scored three goals for his team Holstein Kiel in the Bundesliga. The decisive goals from the penalty spot further affirmed his place in football history.

That match also ended with an unthinkable scoreline, one of the second-largest wins in Champions League history. The biggest win ever in this year’s UEFA Champions League was recorded by Real Madrid after they defeated Malmo 8-0 while Liverpool also registered an 8-0 thrashing of Super Falcons of Nigeria still remains the record holders of the biggest victory. Nonetheless, the record for the highest-scoring CL match remains the one in which Borussia Dortmund defeated Legia Warsaw 8-4 in 2016.

"Everyone has a point to prove here and we've started the season that way," Kane said. "The way the coach wants us to press and be intense with and without the ball is important. We know we can dominate teams with the quality we have."

"It's the first time I've ever had three penalties in one game," said Kane. "It was a different feeling for me, but to score four goals is fantastic."

"To help the team in any way possible is important. Whether they're penalties or normal finishes I'll take them all. It was a great night for us."

With Thomas Tuchel leaving and Burnley manager Vincent Kompany taking over in the summer, Bayern Munich saw major changes following their first trophy-free season in over a decade. Bayern is determined to regain its supremacy after losing in both domestic and international competitions. They are eager to recover their grandeur.

The club has had a fantastic start under Kompany's leadership, winning their first four games and scoring an astounding 20 goals. Bayern made history by being the first team to score nine goals in a European Cup encounter since Real Madrid's 9-1 thumping of Wacker Innsbruck in the 1990–91 campaign.

Along with having the third-largest winning margin in Champions League history, this game also tied for the second-highest goal total. This season's Champions League final is set to take place in Bayern's Allianz Arena; with that, the team may pull off an incredible upset at home.

Harry Kane established himself as one of Europe's best forwards with an incredible 44 goals in 45 games for Bayern Munich last season. His unwavering knack for scoring goals was essential to Bayern's offensive prowess all season long.

More recently, Kane achieved a significant career milestone by playing in 100 England matches. He scored two goals against Finland to celebrate the occasion in style and demonstrate his talent on the global arena once more.
