No April Fools’: Jokić’s 61-point triple-double & Curry’s 52 with 12 Threes Shine on a Historic NBA Night!

On April 1, 2025, two of the NBA's best talents, Stephen Curry and Nikola Jokić, put on incredible performances in their respective games, making it a night for the record books. While Curry exploded for 52 points and lit up the scoreboard with a three-point masterclass, Jokić delivered a remarkable 61-point triple-double in an exciting double-overtime fight.

Jokić's Heroic Effort Falls Short in Double Overtime

At Ball Arena, the Denver Nuggets met the Minnesota Timberwolves in a game that would go down in history. The MVP winner and the mainstay of Denver's championship aspirations, Nikola Jokić, gave an unforgettable performance. With 61 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists, Jokić became one of the few players in NBA history to accomplish this feat.

But after two exhausting overtime periods, the Nuggets lost heartbreakingly, 140-139, despite his record heroics. In addition to displaying his trademark footwork and accurate passing, Jokić was dominant in the paint and made crucial shots from beyond the arc. Denver remained in the game thanks to his ability to manage the tempo and take advantage of mismatches, but a costly late-game mistake proved to be the difference.

The Nuggets had a one-point lead with seconds left in the second overtime when Russell Westbrook's controversial defensive blunder put Nickeil Alexander-Walker on the free-throw line. Minnesota took the lead when Alexander-Walker calmly made both of his free throws. Jokić's last-second heave rimmed out, giving the Timberwolves the victory, but Denver had one last chance to win the game.

Jokić's genius was offset by Anthony Edwards of Minnesota, who led the Timberwolves to their sixth consecutive victory over the Nuggets with an outstanding 34-point, 10-rebound, and 8-assist performance. Karl-Anthony Towns contributed 24 points as well, guaranteeing Minnesota's thrilling victory.

Curry’s 52-Point Barrage Lifts Warriors Over Grizzlies

Meanwhile, over in Memphis, Stephen Curry turned back the time and put on a scoring clinic as the Golden State Warriors challenged the Memphis Grizzlies. 52 points and an incredible 12 three-pointers were made by the two-time MVP, who also added 10 rebounds and 8 assists to his stat line.

In what might be a pivotal game in the Western Conference playoff race, Curry's scorching shooting helped the Warriors win 134-125. With the victory, Golden State gained the crucial tiebreaker edge against Memphis and moved up to the fifth spot.

From the opening tip, Curry was focused in, nailing three-pointers from well beyond the arc and weaving around defenders with his characteristic handles. He electrified the fans and demoralized the Grizzlies defense at one point in the third quarter by making back-to-back threes.

With his 52-point surge, Curry also moved up to 25th place on the NBA's all-time scoring list, surpassing Jerry West. The milestone solidified his reputation as one of the best scorers in league history and significantly increased the significance of the evening.

Even with Memphis' 38-point performance by Ja Morant, the Grizzlies were unable to overcome the Warriors' offensive prowess, which was dominated by Curry and Klay Thompson's 24 points.

A Night for the History Books

These kinds of performances remind us why Jokić and Curry are still among the best in the NBA as the regular season comes to an end. Their status as generational talents was further cemented as fans enjoyed a spectacular basketball night thanks to Jokić's dominance in the post and Curry's unending range.

Even if Denver was disappointed by Jokić's brilliant performance, it will go down as one of the best in NBA history. Curry's incredible shooting, meanwhile, gave Golden State a vital win and set the stage for what looks to be an exciting postseason competition.

With both superstars at the pinnacle of their powers, NBA fans can only hope for more amazing moments as the postseason approaches.
