The Los Angeles Dodgers lost to the New York Mets 4-3, despite a standout performance by Shohei Ohtani. The game began with the Mets taking a 2-0 lead, thanks to a strong start from Mets pitcher Blackburn. But in the 7th inning, Ohtani stepped up with a solo home run to right field, his 23rd of the season, bringing the Dodgers within one run.
In the 9th, with the game still 2-1, Ohtani’s clutch sacrifice fly tied the game, sending it into extra innings. Unfortunately, in the 10th, the Dodgers were unable to capitalize, with Mets pitcher Tanner Scott giving up the go-ahead run, sealing a 4-3 victory for New York.
Ohtani finished the game 1-for-5, with a strikeout, a groundout, a home run, and a sacrifice fly. His 23rd home run was hit with an exit velocity of 113.9 MPH (approximately 184 km/h), traveled 424 feet (129 meters), and had a launch angle of 38 degrees.
Before the game, Ohtani paid tribute to the late Shigeo Nagashima, the iconic Japanese baseball figure who passed away earlier that morning at the age of 89. Ohtani shared a heartfelt message on Instagram, offering his condolences to Nagashima’s family.
