They completed the job on home ice on a tense Tuesday night in Sunrise, defeating the Edmonton Oilers 5-1 in Game 6. It was a dominant performance that culminated in a celebration deserving of the most coveted award in hockey.

Center Sam Reinhart was the driving force behind Florida's victory with an incredible four-goal performance. Less than five minutes into the match, he opened the scoring by snagging a sloppy pass, charging forward, and diving for the net to finish in style. The Panthers never looked back after that.

It was all Florida after that, an unrelenting charge the Oilers were unable to resist. Edmonton's offensive line ran out of options after making comeback after comeback in earlier games. They had lost their spark.

Late in the second period, Sam Reinhart extended the Panthers' advantage to 3-0 as he continued to shred. Reinhart had the ideal opportunity after goalie Stuart Skinner made a costly error with a badly managed rebound that was left uncovered in front of the crease.

He wasn't finished. Reinhart's two empty-net goals in the closing minutes of his historic performance effectively ended any chance of an Oilers comeback. With a 5-1 victory, Florida won the Stanley Cup for the second time in the team's existence.

Reinhart cemented his name into hockey legend in the process. He became only the fourth player in history to record a hat trick in a Stanley Cup-winning game, the broadcast said. Even more amazing is the fact that he is the only player to score seven goals in a single Final since Wayne Gretzky in 1985.

Another season of great hopes and near-glory that ends in disappointment is just one more heartbreaking experience for Edmonton. The Sunshine State is still home to the Stanley Cup for the time being.
