Sentinels Secure Exciting Victory at VCT Americas Kickoff, Clinching Top Seed for VCT Masters: Madrid

In a thrilling competition during the VALORANT Champions Tour 2024: Americas Kickoff, Sentinels emerged victorious after engaging in a fierce five-map battle against LOUD. This hard-fought triumph not only secured Sentinels the championship but also earned them the prestigious position of being the 1st seed to represent the Americas at VCT 2024: Masters Madrid. On the other hand, LOUD, despite their valiant effort, settled for the 2nd seed as the runner-up in the Kickoff event. The high-stakes match showcased the skill and determination of both teams, making Sentinels the top representative for the Americas region in the upcoming Masters event.

Just as they faced the underdog status in their semifinal match against NRG the day before, Sentinels found themselves in a similar position against LOUD. However, they seized an early advantage over the Brazilian team, securing a 13-9 victory on Sunset and dominating with a 13-3 performance on Split. Despite LOUD's proficiency in reverse sweeps, they initially took control on Icebox, establishing a 9-4 lead. Sentinels, determined to make a comeback, leveled the score to 11-11, but it was LOUD who secured the narrow victory, clinching the map 13-11. LOUD then comfortably closed out the series with a 13-8 win on Bind, leading the competition to the decisive final map on Lotus.

The series had seen intense back-and-forth battles in the first four maps, but the concluding map lacked any dramatic suspense. Sentinels asserted their dominance unequivocally on Lotus, securing a commanding 13-4 victory to claim the series 3-2. Tyson "TenZ" Ngo earned the title of Finals MVP for his stellar performance, highlighted by a remarkable 245 ACS.

The triumph yesterday concluded a prolonged dry spell for Sentinels, as their last victory in an S-tier VALORANT esports event was at VCT: Stage 2 Masters - Reykjavík on May 30, 2021. Masters Madrid will mark Sentinels' return to the international S-tier stage after over 800 days. Alongside LOUD, Sentinels will join EDward Gaming, FunPlus Phoenix, Karmine Corp, Team Heretics, Paper Rex, and Gen.G at Masters Madrid on March 14, competing for three Championship Points.
