Sentinels Secure Victory at VALORANT Champions Tour 2024: Masters Madrid Grand Finals in Thrilling 3-2 Showdown against Gen.G Esports!

In a thrilling showdown on Monday (25 March), Sentinels, the dominant force in North American VALORANT, emerged victorious as champions of the VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT) 2024 Masters Madrid. They battled fiercely against South Korea's Gen.G Esports, ultimately prevailing with a hard-fought 3-2 victory in the Grand Finals.

Sentinels secured the lion's share of the tournament's substantial US$500,000 prize pool, pocketing a hefty sum of US$250,000. This victory not only bolstered their financial standing but also granted them 3 VCT points, crucial for solidifying their position in the highly anticipated VALORANT Champions event scheduled for later this year.

This signifies Sentinels' second victory in the Masters series, adding to their previous win at the VCT 2021 Stage 2 Masters held in Reykjavík, Iceland.

In the aftermath, Gen.G secures the runner-up position in Masters Madrid, departing with a consolation prize of US$100,000.

Sentinels and Gen.G arrived at Masters Madrid as the leading contenders from their regions, having secured top positions in the Kickoff tournaments held in the Americas and Pacific regions.

During the Group Stage, which followed a Swiss format, both Sentinels and Gen.G demonstrated their prowess by securing flawless 2-0 records. This meant they were the first teams to secure spots in the Playoffs. Sentinels achieved victories against Team Heretics and Karmine Corp from Europe, while Gen.G emerged victorious against LOUD from Brazil and EDward Gaming from China.

Gen.G flaunted their might in the Playoffs, dominating regional rivals Paper Rex with a commanding 2-0 victory in the upper bracket semifinals. Meanwhile, Sentinels engaged in a tense battle against LOUD, ultimately emerging triumphant with a hard-fought 2-1 victory after an exhilarating showdown.

In a high-stakes clash during the upper bracket finals, the South Korean team displayed their dominance, ultimately prevailing with a 2-1 victory. This win secured their position as the inaugural team to advance to the Grand Finals, marking a significant milestone in the tournament.

Sentinels' defeat in the upper bracket finals sent them into a fiery clash in the lower bracket. They faced off against Paper Rex and emerged victorious with a commanding 3-1 scoreline. This win propelled them back into contention, setting the stage for an epic rematch against Gen.G in the battle for the Masters Madrid championship.

In the initial clash on the map Breeze, Gen.G and Sentinels fiercely contested each round, with both teams showing determination. Gen.G managed to gain a slight edge in the first half, leading 7-5. They then continued their dominance into the second half, outscoring Sentinels 6-3, ultimately securing victory in the first game with a final score of 13-8.

Both teams were evenly matched. They scored the same number of points in the first half, tying at 6-6. The deadlock continued in the second half, with both sides once again scoring equally at 6-6, leading to an exciting overtime after a tense 12-12 scoreline.

However, it was the Sentinels who rose to the occasion, claiming the next two rounds and securing victory on Bind with a score of 14-12.

In the third clash, Gen.G and Sentinels stayed evenly matched at 6-6 in the first half. However, Gen.G picked up their pace in the second half, dominating with a score of 7-2. This secured their victory in the third game with a final score of 13-8.

Gen.G and Sentinels remained neck and neck at 6-6 during the initial half. But as the game heated up, Gen.G surged ahead in the latter half, overpowering with a remarkable 7-2 score. This ensured their triumph in the third round, sealing the deal with a decisive 13-8 victory.

In the crucial fifth match, Sentinels took an early lead, dominating with a 7-5 score in the initial half. Despite a slight slowdown later on, the North American squad steadily widened their lead to 6-1 in the latter half. This relentless push culminated in a resounding 13-6 victory, crowning them as the champions of Masters Madrid.
