Perfect World, the organizer of esports tournaments, is set to host the second-ever Major for Counter-Strike 2 in Shanghai, China in 2024.
The announcement of the Major took place during the live broadcast of the CS Asia Championships, an international event organized by Perfect World. Specific details, including the venue and exact dates of the event, are yet to be disclosed.
Debuting on August 21st, 2012, CS:GO has etched its name in gaming history as one of the most beloved FPS games over its 11-year journey. The much-awaited successor, Counter-Strike 2, was unveiled in March 2023, and following six months of a Closed Beta phase, the game officially launched on September 27th.
Nevertheless, despite Counter-Strike's extensive esports legacy, the franchise had never hosted an officially Valve-backed Major championship in China—until now. This revelation not only signifies the inaugural Counter-Strike Major in China but also marks a historic milestone for the entire Asian region.

Since 2017, the Chinese tournament organizer has been at the forefront of hosting Counter-Strike esports events. Its recent international tournament, the CS Asia Championships, featured elite CS2 teams, including renowned names such as FaZe Clan, MOUZ, Astralis, and Ninjas In Pyjamas.
In July of the current year, HLTV.org disclosed that Valve was eyeing Shanghai as the venue for the second CS2 Major. The report indicated that Perfect World, in collaboration with PGL, would orchestrate the event, anticipated to take place from December 1st to 15th. It's crucial to emphasize that the official announcement for this Major did not specify PGL's involvement or provide specific dates. Currently, there is limited information available on the matter.
