On October 21 (October 22 Japan Time), the MLB Players Association announced the finalists for its annual awards based on player voting. The winners will be revealed on October 26 (27th) during the second game of the World Series. Ohtani faces tough competition for the Player of the Year award from Aaron Judge of the Yankees, who led the league with 58 home runs and 144 RBIs, and Bobby Witt Jr. of the Royals, who secured the batting title with a .332 average.
