A new survey from Deutsche Bank paints a gloomy picture for the future of Bitcoin. The bank surveyed 2,000 consumers in the U.S., U.K., and Europe and found more people expect the cryptocurrency to disappear rather than survive long-term.
Specifically, 42% of respondents said they anticipate Bitcoin's disappearance, while only 39% believe it will continue to exist in the coming years. This negative outlook comes on the heels of Bitcoin's price slumping after the launch of spot crypto ETFs in the U.S. earlier this year.
The Deutsche Bank report, released Tuesday, suggests the ongoing "crypto winter" has dampened enthusiasm. More than half of those surveyed expressed concerns about a major cryptocurrency collapsing within two years, likely due to past events like FTX's implosion. Ongoing regulatory pressure is also seen as an overhang.
According to the bank, the survey highlights a general lack of crypto understanding, with two-thirds having little or no comprehension of digital assets. With pessimism high, the path out of crypto winter may remain challenging. For Bitcoin to rebound, boosting public knowledge may be key.
