T1 Triumphs in Historic Esports World Cup, Crowned League of Legends Champions after Defeating TOP Esports 3-1

The Esports World Cup began brilliantly in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia when T1 outwined TOP Esports (TES) to become the first-ever EWC champions of League of Legends. undefined

T1, the four-time World Champions team that is well-known in the League of Legends scene, received not only a $400,000 reward but another trophy for the shining star of their roster – Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok, one of the greatest eSports esports players of all the time.

Specifically, after their stunning performance in the Mid-Season Invitational, Gen. G faced higher expectations during the Esports World Cup due to the performance of their midlaner Jeong Ji-hoon ‘Chovy’. Although, they were given a major wakeup call in the first match by China’s TES team where they were beaten 2-0. To compound this, TES were immediately able to come through with another dominant 2-0 win over another European team in G2 Esports which further solidified their chances of being a powerful force.

On the contrary, T1 appeared to face more struggles in reaching the finals of the competition. All the teams put good shows though the matches were intense, North American’s Team Liquid and China’s Billibi Gaming were tough the tough cookies with matches that ended 2-1. This hard trip was proved as the key to T1’s perseverance and determination while rising through the ranks, into the competitive brackets, and towards the prize.

TES remained unbeaten throughout the tournament; they defeated the first game of the finals against T1, thanks to a great performance from Creme’s Tristana against Faker on the mid land.

But in the case of Faker, his legendary status as the ‘greatest of all time’ in esports turned out to be vital. In response, he decided to play his set AHRI in the second game as he is frequently seen to do in other games. It allowed him how to arrange dangerous actions across the map and kick out the competitors and win the party, which gave the teams a win to even the series.

It was after this that the company dramatized the superiority of T1. In Game 3, Jungler Mun “Oner” Hyeon-jun also excelled in the Summoner’s Rift, particularly with Nidalee which he posted a KDA of 8/1/6 on the said champion at high danger. That domination was shown in Game 4 against Sejuani where he went 6/0/14 as an ADC that successfully brought his team to a dominating 3-1 victory on the back of his 13-0-22 KDA.

While it is not shocking that Faker garnered the MVP award, special attention should be paid to ADC Lee “Gumayusi” Min-hyeong’s outstanding performance. Gumayusi demonstrated high skill while playing 10 unique champions in 10 different EWC games, transitioning between them seamlessly. Further League of Legends Esports tournaments are being masked by debates on brave drafting while Korean players proved that top players should embrace the task of complex roster treatment with gratitude.
