After revealing that he was living in a gym with only $7 to his name, Themba Gorimbo, the UFC fighter, has received a generous gift of an apartment from actor and former wrestler Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.
Through a YouTube video, The Rock unveiled the surprising gift. Prior to this, The Rock had artfully arranged a rendezvous with Gorimbo at a friend's apartment, deftly leading him to his freshly provided residence. As the UFC star grasped the evolving situation, profound emotions welled up within him.
Gorimbo's life has been marked by a succession of challenges. Bereavement struck at an early age with the loss of his mother at 9, followed by his father at 13. In Zimbabwe, he confronted further difficulties, having been detained for engaging in unauthorized diamond mining and enduring a harrowing dog attack.
After securing a win in Las Vegas earlier this year, he candidly revealed the precarious state of his bank account. The earnings derived from that significant victory were instrumental in sustaining him. This achievement, coupled with the widespread dissemination of his story, has catapulted him into the spotlight as he endeavors to climb the ranks in the Welterweight division.
"I was so moved by your story," The Rock told Gorimbo. "When I found out you were sleeping on the couch in the gym ... now there's no more couch sleeping. This is your house. Welcome home! Now you can bring your kids here, man, your family. This place is yours. You don't have to think about anything. The only thing you think about is your family, getting them over here, getting them with you, training, and becoming a champion."
"Thank you so much, man," Gorimbo said. "I will become a champion, trust me. Trust me, you can shake my hand, I will become your champion. Thank you. Thank you so much."
The involvement of The Rock not only provides Gorimbo with a new dwelling but also secures a high-profile celebrity champion for his cause. "Because you got me this house, I was supposed to get a house to come here," Gorimbo said in the apartment video. "The money that I was going to use for the house, I'm going to build another borehole in my village now when I land in Africa."
