Atlético Stuns Sevilla with Thrilling Comeback Victory

Atletico Madrid was able to comeback and win with a score of 4-3 against Sevilla in the historic Riyadh Air Metropolitano to show the spirit of a team that is hunting for the title. Thus, the intensity of the tags in favor of the two teams varied greatly during the oscillation of emotions during the games.

It was one of the best goals in La Liga this season that was scored by Rodrigo De Paul in the tenth minute which saw the Colchoneros getting in front. Sevilla was unable to clear the ball on the edge of their penalty area, which had been under constant pressure by Antoine Griezmann. When at first Atlético had built two very good opportunities in the first two minutes, De Paul’s powerful free-kick granted the people’s favourite the deserved early lead. Sevilla, however equalized the score in a very short time. The Belgian attacker Dodi Lukebakio levelled the terms with a furious powered rocket from the inside the box that soared past Jan Oblak at his near post and momentarily silenced the home side’s fan.

"We are doing well. We struggled to get back into the game. Sevilla had two chances and scored two goals," Griezmann told reporters, "We are a united group, we all are on the same path. It's the way forward to dream big. We will try to win everything. There will be difficult moments but we have to keep fighting."

Sevilla had taken the lead in the 32nd minute of the match with Isaac Romero’s first La Liga goal of the year. A typical example of convert operation of defense to offense, common with football matches the move began with a mispick up of De Paul that was intercepted by Sevilla team as they charged with pace and precision.

Sevilla went ahead in the 32nd minute through Isaac Romero’s first La Liga goal of the year, which came after a fine counterattacking move. The movement started with a slip of a ball by De Paul before Sevilla anticipated, volleyed and attacked fast and accurately. It is a classic example how defense turns to offence.

Despite the fact they were not out of reckoning yet, the home team began their fight back with Antoine Griezmann. Five minutes after the third Sevilla’s goal Griezmann was alone in the penalty area after receiving a perfect pass from Pablo Barrios. That was calmly tucked past Álvaro Fernández and marked a revival.

Substitute Samuel Lino equalised when the spark turned into full-blown commitment during the second 45 minutes. Lino equalized in the 80th minute with a well placed shot from just about thirty yards out placed well below the goalpost. Metropolitano was echoing with an abrupt shout. But this was not the end of the drama all the same. Griezmann scored twice in the added time, just as Sevilla was about to come to life productively and at least get a point. He rounded his scored with a tremendous strike which ensured Atletico secured the full point and marked them as genuine contenders for the La Liga title Hunt.

When they have come only one point within the league’s leaders Barcelona and even one point behind their rivals Real Madrid, champions are guaranteed to Atletico. Meanwhile, Sevilla departs Andalucía empty-handed as its struggles are reflected in the team’s 13th position on the overall standing.
