Bayern Munich Signs Japanese Defender Hiroki Ito from VfB Stuttgart Until 2028

Bayern Munich Signs Japanese Defender Hiroki Ito from VfB Stuttgart Until 2028

In a rather daring bid on Thursday, Bayern Munich, as it is rumored, registered Japanese center-back Hiroki Ito’s $30 million euro ($32 million) buy-out clause and sign the player from Stuttgart till the end of the season and till 2028.

Ito’s signing was a shocking for fans as well as critics that came through the door at Bayern during the winter transfer window besides being the first signing of the current year at the age of only 25. The player was signed by the team two seasons ago from the Japanese club Jubilo Iwata for a measly below one million Euro but this sensation kicked off the Bundesliga.

Even though Ito is yet to fully prove himself and fully develop his talent for the subsequent seasons, this acquisition has bolstered the German club’s defensive department and greatly showcased the club’s foresight and intensity, both of which are significant figures of merit for Bayern Munich.

“It’s a great honour for me to be able to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world,” Ito said “I want to play my part in FC Bayern winning lots of trophies.”

While he mainly anchors himself in the center of the defense, Hiroki is comfortable playing as both a left and defensive midfielder.

Ito played for Stuttgart for two and half seasons and was able to score two goals while he was making one hundred and ninety seven appearances for the team.

“Hiroki has everything that we want: he’s a player who embraces challenges, overcomes them and continues to make his way,” said Bayern sporting director Max Eberl.

“He’ll really strengthen us right away.”

With a brand new team, Ito was at the forefront of Stuttgart’s stunning rise to second in the Bundesliga this season. He is also a memeber of this team since 2021. They subdued Bayern through the strength of the finish; this year and the last Bayern finished a season without a trophy for the first time since the 2011-12 season.

Stuttgart turned around a terribly bottom season, and went from being a candidate for relegation to a Champions League place in large part due to the efforts of Ito.

Bayern Munich, with their first poor season where they lost the trophy, had their worst season in twelve long years, were beaten by Stuttgart who finished second to Bayer Leverkusen under Sebastian Hoeness.

He is still an active player for his national team having represented the country at the international level 19 times since 2022 and scoring once.
