Carlos Alcaraz, the Spanish tennis star, showed his joy on Wednesday when discussing Nadal’s partnership in the Davis Cup finals for his Spanish team. But the young talent expressed his desire that this should not be the ‘last dance’ for the 22 times Grand Slam champion.

The Spanish team has named a five-player team for the finals to be held in November in the country’s city of Málaga. Alcaraz and Nadal are very good friends on the tennis ground as shown by their previous partnership in the Olympics that took place in Paris.

Having performed in only one of the preceding seven tournaments because of as-yet-persistent injury and fitness concerns following his trip to Paris, the 38-year-old, Rafael Nadal, has been selected in the Davis Cup team.

21-year-old Alcaraz expressed he had ‘missed’ his compatriot at the recent Laver Cup that Nadal skipped due to health issues. This could be seen rather evidently due to the lack of this noted competitor in this particular competition and can therefore be considered to chime with the friendly factor of this tandem of mind boggling sporting individuals.

“I don’t want to think that it is a potential last dance for him in Malaga,” Four-time Grand Slam champion Alcaraz made his remarks during the China Open in Beijing. “He can bring a lot of experience. For me it’s going to be my first Davis Cup final, it’s going to be a great experience for me.

“Hopefully it’s not going to be the last time for him.”

Nadal targeted a come back at Laver cup but he stepped down. He says he has not yet made his choices of which tournaments he is going to play before the Davis Cup.
