“Rap music is still the most impactful genre to date,” Lamar said in a statement. “And I’ll be there to remind the world why. They got the right one.”

Super Bowl concert promises to deliver spectacular visual effects but most fans expect him to reignite his longstanding rivalry with Father Drake. After "Not Like Us" reached number one on the charts in May both artists saw their intense public feud intensify into an even stronger standoff. A new federal lawsuit that Drake filed regarding the song drove their bitter feud into even fiercer levels which has greatly increased their public conflict.

Despite the ongoing legal proceedings Lamar displays an unflappable attitude of readiness to speak his mind to audiences. New reports indicate the performance of "Not Like Us" during his upcoming halftime show. Such a decision could ignite renewed controversy across the biggest television platform in America. Before airing the Super Bowl halftime commercials during the NFC Championship game FOX played an instrumental adaptation of the song. The decades-long animosity between Lamar and Drake is poised to take center stage with millions of viewers at this year's halftime show which positions it as a cultural landmark moment.

The ongoing conflict between Drake and Kendrick Lamar became a court matter in New York when attorneys from one of Drake's business entities submitted a court filing last November. A lawsuit alleged that Spotify in conjunction with Universal Music Group employed faulty software bots to cheat the numbers of who listened to Kendrick Lamar's "Not Like Us." Immediately following the first lawsuit Drake submitted a Texas court complaint where he accused Universal Music Group of releasing the music without permission thus engaging in "pay-to-play" practices while damaging his reputation. Both musicians operate under UMG's distribution system but the label immediately dismissed the allegations.

Drake followed a new approach in his legal defense strategy during January 2021. The legal team filed a federal lawsuit against UMG in the Southern District of New York after withdrawing the initial complaint by charging the company with engaging in "corporate greed" while promoting Lamar's track that labels Drake a "certified pedophile." Following his popular song Drake faced harassment from gunmen during an attack at his Toronto home prompting him to move his son and mother to a secure location.
