As the NBA regular season nears its final stretch, teams are making their last push for playoff contention. With roughly 67 out of 82 games played, several teams have already secured their postseason berths. In the Eastern Conference, the New York Knicks officially booked their spot in the playoffs for the third straight season. However, their path forward just got tougher.
The Knicks’ star point guard, Jalen Brunson, suffered an ankle sprain during a game against the Los Angeles Lakers on March 7 (JST). As a result, he is expected to miss 1–2 weeks. Since his injury, the Knicks have gone 2-2, raising concerns about their stability heading into the playoffs. With the postseason approaching, the team must navigate this challenging stretch without their leader on the floor.
On the other hand, the Toronto Raptors are making a late push for a play-in tournament spot. They have climbed from 13th to 11th place in the East after winning three of their last four games. With 14 games remaining, their schedule includes crucial matchups against playoff-caliber teams such as the Golden State Warriors (March 21) and the Detroit Pistons (April 5). The Raptors currently trail the 10th-seeded Chicago Bulls by 4.5 games, but their recent form suggests they could still make a run at their first postseason appearance in three years.
