The Dallas Mavericks are expected to select Cooper Flagg, a rising basketball star in the United States, with the first overall pick in Wednesday's NBA Draft. Flagg could be just what Mavericks supporters have been waiting for—a new player with star potential to help them get over the disappointment of the historic trade in February that shipped Anthony Davis to the Lakers in return for Luka Dončić.

Asquad packed full of superstars, including Davis and Kyrie Irving, who is recovering from knee surgery, as the third overall choice. Flagg won't be embarking on this adventure alone, as head coach Jason Kidd will be leading the team and experienced shooter Klay Thompson will be offering guidance. James mentioned that he will have a solid foundation of mentorship and expertise.

"It doesn't matter where you're from or if people believe in you," Flagg said. "You have to believe in yourself."

Flagg would be the second-youngest No. 1 overall pick in NBA history if he were chosen first, only surpassed by LeBron James, who took that title in 2003 and went on to have an incredible career as a four-time champion.

These guys, they can give him the whole blueprint while he continues to learn what his blueprint will be. And I think that's gonna be an incredible thing for him to have. That type of presence, that type of leadership, that type of just basketball IQ and knowledge around him every single day from those pieces. So, I think he's going to be amazing."
