Los Angeles Takes the Olympic Torch: Dazzling Finale and Star-Studded Handover Wrap Up Paris 2024

Los Angeles Takes the Olympic Torch: Dazzling Finale and Star-Studded Handover Wrap Up Paris 2024

The grand celebration of two and half extraordinary weeks of Olympic competitions and feelings was marked by star-studded and effervescent show at the home of France on Sunday. It was a formal ritual, and the city passed the baton to the next host of the summer games which will be held in LA in 2028.

Tom Cruise jumped off the stadium top to the famous “Mission Impossible” music in an exciting show of Hollywood talent. Sweating and after shaking hands with the athletes, he took the Olympic flag ceremonially from the eminent gymnast Simone Biles. People bellowed when on a motorcycle, Cruise took the flag and zoomed out of the stadium.

Cruise’s bike ride across Paris and the following plane sequence were stunt scenes where Cruise actually rode the bike around the Eiffel Tower and then was filmed flying the plane. The main climax of this scene includes him performing a stunt of skydiving over the Hollywood Hills and changing the H of the Hollywood sign to the Olympic insignia of five rings simply by adding three rings.

Paris hosted its first Olympics in a century, and a critical moment of the closing ceremony served as its crowning achievement. Thousands of athletes rejoiced long into the night, taking in a spectacular extravaganza that honored Olympic values and was lighted by beautiful golden fireworks.

This was accompanied by a montage of spectacular highlights of the Games; the competitors spilled out onto the platform in admiration. The French pop-rock band Phoenix which has a grammy award was performing live and people were all around them while dancing, some even singing on top of them while some who dorpted left, others had to be requested through French and English to give the performers some space. Finally, the athletes were encouraged to leave by volunteers and the security personnel, and this made it possible for the celebration to continue without any interruption.

If Paris was something that Los Angeles has to face and overcome, it may not be a very easy feat to accomplish. The capital of France used its beautiful skyline to organize the first Olympic Games in the history of the country. Thus, monuments such as the Eiffel Tower, became popular attractions and, in some cases, the places where the celebrations took place.

However, LA is not going to show up empty handed for this matchup. It also has its own pool of powerful players which seem to put the city on the right track. Two prominent campaigners who have come out in support are the rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers and the talented singer Billie Eilish. Some of the new entries for the Paris Olympics are unable to leave home without which is Snoop Dogg, who is always accompanied by his partner in crime Dr. Dre. When the City of Light transformed into the City of Angels ceremoniously, they brighten the Long Beach stage at the same time.

The anticipated 9,000 athletes and their teammates fit into the arena since the 329 medal events were drawing to a close. Some of them were joyfully wearing their shining medals. It was quite an exhilarating scene. With the moving rhythm emanating from the speakers fixed at the stadium, they sang, danced, and went wild to celebrate their victory.

It was clearly prophetic of the spirit of the celebration. Shrill beats combined with noises of joy as the contenders rejoiced over the end of tedious and vehement battles. Indeed it was an action packed night and the medals they had around their necks were not only emblems of victory but also symbols of the journey taken to get to the gold.

The last medals that were awarded in today’s event are those made from metal fragments of the Eiffel Tower. In a nice symbolic touch, given the original Olympics former focus on male athletes, all of the final awards were won by females. The prestigious awards were awarded to the first, second and third place finishers in the women’s marathon that took place earlier in the day on Sunday. This moment showed how much these Games are dedicated to gender equality, uniting the traditions and the progress as these outstanding athletes received their recognition on the global level.

Once again, the American team topped the medal tally having won 126 medals in total of which 40 were gold. Three of them were secured by Simone Biles, thereby completing a thrilling comeback to the pinnacle of the Olympic competition. Tokyo 2021- Following her decision to focus on her mental health thereby pulling out from Tokyo 2021, Biles returned to the competition with much energy and further cements herself as a key figure in the gymnastic fraternity.
