Na'Vi's Unstoppable Run Concludes with Historic CS2 Championship Victory Over G2 at EWC

Na'Vi's Unstoppable Run Concludes with Historic CS2 Championship Victory Over G2 at EWC

Esports World Cup (EWC) 2024 CG final, Na’Vi triumphed G2 Esports with 2-1 overall to seize the Counter-Strike 2 championship title. Such amazing outcomes ensured the Na’Vi team emerged victorious. Na’Vi won the title through the intense best of three tournament by struggling and outsmarting the opponents in the earlier stages of the final match.

Apart from winning they also got their breakthrough, Na’Vi were awarded the main part of the rewards – $ 400,000 of $ 1,000,000 of the prize money given for the games of the competition. This is the second time that they emerge on top within the year, after triumphing at the PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 in March. G2 was able to accept the defeat and is content with the $175,000 second place prize, which is not bad at all especially that they had a new team formation, with Janusz ‘Snax’ Pogorzelski replacing Rasmus’ HooXi Nielsen as the in-game leader.

Into the Playoffs, Na’Vi and G2 both experienced great starts in their EWC journeys as they completed easy work over the Opening Stage. I attended the final matches today, where Na’Vi outplayed FURIA Esports and G2 overcame The MongolZ.

The most dramatic upset of the G2 was achieved in the Playoff quarter-finals, when the team beat Team Spirit, tournament favourites, 2-1 after a thrilling battle. It is noteworthy that they defeated Virtus with 2-0 in the subsequent match. A tie in the semifinals to be assured of a place in the final has been their policy of winning the pro. However, Na’Vi reached the second position in the grand finals after prevailing over MOUZ in a thrilling 2-1 reverse map sweep on Tuesday and ousting FaZe Clan in the quarterfinals 2-0.

G2 then stepped on the gas, reaching the grand finals with full might, winning the first six games on Ancient as the T side. Even though Na'Vi was able to respond and win four of the next five rounds, G2 still had a dominating 8-4 advantage at the half.

Na’Vi came back in the second half by winning the six out of seven rounds and taking the lead 10 to 9. G2 fired back and won three of the next four rounds and closed in on the map point at 12-11. Na’Vi then won in round 24 to take the game to overtime. In the overtime, G2 improved their performance by winning two of the three rounds in the two consecutive overtime periods to take the victory 16-14 on Ancient.

In the first game, G2 was led by NiKo and malbsMd who got 11 assist and 25 frag while receiving 19 kills.

Na’Vi surrendered the initial map in overtime, but they recovered quickly, and provided a spectacular show on the second map Nuke that tied the series to the decider game.

Na’Vi started to lead in the first rounds of attacking by taking the first four rounds of the Nuke map in the T side. After that, they exchanged two rounds each by round 8 which G2 then claimed four straight and made the score 6-6. Na’Vi reciprocated in turn, developing a perfect CT side, dominating the second half, and concluding the battle on Nuke with a convincing 13:6 score.

He had the most kills and assists on the map and at the same time receiving the minimum amount of deaths on Nuke, so Valerij “b1t” Vakhovskiy is one of the decisive players for Na’Vi. Justinas “jL” Lekavičius also played well, with 15 kills and 6 assists for 12 deaths.

Confident in themselves, Na’Vi charged into the third round of the match on the Inferno, with extreme aggression. The T side take control of the first half and leads 9-3 overall, including 7-0 of three rounds through to nine. Na’Vi resumed the pressure in the second half and were the first to score in the opening two rounds to push their lead to 11-3. Na’Vi just laughed it off and sealed the series with a score of 13-6 on Inferno before G2 could snatch a 2 rounds streak in the sixteenth round.

As for the following map, B1t continued to contribute significantly to his team, getting nineteen kills and six assists while having nine deaths. Mihai “iM” Ivan also put up a great display by showcasing 16 kills and 4 assist, against 9 deaths to clinch Na’Vi the championship and the 2-1 series victory.
