The Dodgers' star-studded "MVP Trio" finally shined together for the first time this season, thrilling fans right from the opening inning.
After a rocky start to the season due to injuries and illness, the long-awaited return of Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts, and Freddie Freeman in the top three spots of the batting order finally bore fruit. This marked the first time this year that all three former MVPs connected for consecutive hits in a game.
Ohtani, who went hitless in five at-bats against the Cubs the day before, wasted no time this time around—taking Rockies starter Antonio Senzatela’s fifth pitch, a low curveball, and lining it into right field for a single.
Betts followed with a shot to the left-center gap, driving in Ohtani and giving the Dodgers an early 2-0 lead. Freeman then continued the rally with a line drive to right field, marking the trio’s first consecutive hits of the 2025 season.
The early offensive burst brought fans and social media to life, with comments like “The MVP trio is back!”, “So happy to see the MVP trio hitting again!” and “Feels like the 2024 Dodgers are back with these first-inning runs!”
The MVP trio, who led the Dodgers throughout last season, had not been fully in sync until now due to Betts’ early-season illness and Freeman’s brief stint on the injured list after aggravating an old injury.
With all three finally healthy and contributing, Dodgers fans hope this game marks the beginning of another dominant stretch for the reigning NL champions.
