Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry served as the home team toe the Bay Area fans when he appeared before them lighting up with his presence. Kobe Bryant NBA All-Star MVP honored him for a second time throughout his remarkable playing career because of his impressive show in the game.
Following his vital contribution Curry helped Shaq's OGs win the recently added four-team mini-tournament when they beat Chuck's Global Stars 41–25 in their final match. The game victory for his team came when he scored 12 points while also collecting four rebounds. Shaq's OGs secured victories in their games because Curry delivered dominant performances that led his team to comfortable lead each time before hitting 40 points under the new scoring system.
"This is just a special weekend all the way around," Curry said. "This is very symbolic of the entire journey. I hope we have a lot to accomplish on the court and not ending the journey anytime soon. But again, for me and my vantage point, having played here for 16 years, this is the only place that I've played, it was just a great celebration of basketball in this area, and this MVP trophy is pretty cool to have, too."
During the NBA All-Star mini-tournament Steph Curry demonstrated his versatility by making impactful moves throughout the floor to showcase his scoring talent. His eight-point performance alongside six rebounds helped his team defeat Candace's Rising Stars before the championship showdown. Curry accumulated 20 points and 10 rebounds and three steals and two assists across both contest matches. He hit six three-pointers in addition to making four in the final match.
The contest reached its late stages when Curry used two deep three-pointers to seal the game for his team. At 36-21 Shaq's OGs were leading when Curry launched his first three-pointer which increased the score to 39-21. Following the first successful long-range attempt he sank another three-pointer to extend to 39-21. Curry guaranteed his team's championship title status through those game-altering three-pointers which contributed to their comfortable victory.
A three-pointer scored by Curry created the opening momentum for the game. A wild excitement surged among the spectators when this player proved his shooting capability by sinking a shot from thirty-nine feet. The rhythm from the game inspired him to take a dangerous half-court shot which missed its target. Despite his failed attempt he continued to cut down opposition with his aggressive shooting style thus securing the decisive win for Shaq's OGs.
"The intensity was definitely different than last year, a step in the right direction. It's something new, everybody is still trying to figure it out. Stories kind of write themselves," Curry said. "Just having a moment where you get the crowd into it and do what I love doing on the floor."
The 42-35 semifinal victory over Candace's Rising Stars allowed Curry to score eight points and complete the evening with twenty outstanding points. Curry secured his position as an All-Star by winning the MVP award for delivering a exceptional performance during the game.
Curry earned the position as one of 15 NBA players in history with three All-Star MVP awards which demonstrates his continuous standout performance on top basketball stages.
“The hosting experience was unbelievable,” Curry said. “I'm not going to complain about being tired or exhausted. This is an honor and a blessing to be able to celebrate and share this beautiful Bay Area that's been a part of my life for the last 16 years and the basketball history and culture that's here and the amazing fans that are here and the impact that the game being here has had on both cities.”
LeBron James failed to appear at the NBA All-Star Game for the first time since 1997 because his left foot along with his ankle function remained problematic. Together with his historical placement as a starter for the 21st record, James chose to avoid practice sessions and media interviews during Saturday. The Lakers are scheduled to play their first game after the schedule interruption against the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday, following the canceled matchup because of the wildfires in Los Angeles.
“We have 30 games left and I’m just trying to make a playoff push in the wild, wild West, and I just thought it was important to take care of myself with what’s going on.” James said about the discomfort. “I was hoping that it would be a lot better this morning, but it’s still not where I want it to be,”
