As the NBA season nears the All-Star break, teams have completed about 52 of their 82 regular-season games. The Eastern Conference standings remain largely unchanged at the top, but recent trades are already shaking things up.
The Detroit Pistons were the only Eastern Conference team to improve their standing last week, rising from seventh to sixth. They recently acquired Dennis Schröder, a key member of Germany’s national team, via a trade that routed him through the Utah Jazz.
Led by breakout star Cade Cunningham, the Pistons have strengthened their depth and are seeing immediate results. On February 9, they defeated the Charlotte Hornets 112-102, marking their second consecutive win and pushing their record just above .500. With this momentum, Detroit now sits in the automatic playoff qualification zone at sixth place.
Meanwhile, the Milwaukee Bucks, currently in fifth place, made a major move before the deadline by acquiring Kyle Kuzma from the Washington Wizards as part of a four-team trade.
With Giannis Antetokounmpo sidelined due to a calf strain, Kuzma has stepped up, scoring in double digits in his first two games with the Bucks. Alongside Damian Lillard, Milwaukee is looking to solidify its position and push for an even higher spot in the standings.
