LeBron James and Bronny had their time to shine, and on this special evening, the Lakers beat the Timberwolves 103-110: the start of NBA history. LeBron James and Bronny were in the spot Light during the historic event and lively event that had it at the Lakes defeating the Timberwolves 110-103 and securing the first season-opening victory for the team since the 2016–2017 season. I think this is a good way to start the new season, in other word it helps to set a foundation of the new season well. The Lakers’ win gave a good shot for the season and this is the first time they won in their first game since 2016/2017.
"It's been a treat and just in preseason, the practices, just every day," James said. "The plane rides, the bus rides of being with him and showing him the ropes, along with his teammates and coaches. Just what this professional life is all about and how to prepare every day ... super-duper cool."
Taking charge of his team was Anthony Davis who scored 36 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assist. Rui Hachimura also played very well and scored 18 points, fetched 5 rebounds, made a block, stole the ball twice and got an assist. In the same string of victories, LeBron James added 16 points, five rebounds and 4 assist to the mix for the Lakers.
Austin Reaves 12 points and 9 rebounds also contribute to the stability on offense with two steals and 5 assists from D’Angelo Russell, who was cold from the field. Substitute Jaxson Hayes also made his contribution on the floor, he scored 10 points, grabbed four rebounds and had one block for the Lakers’ second team spirits reinvention.
Rui Hachimura’s three-point shot to open the game put Los Angeles on an early top and swift start. Not long after that Rui threw down a strong dunk against Rudy Gobert but with a comical block on the big man. His torrid start set the team alight and a flame was and started from him went round everybody. The lead extended to six points as the Lakers continued to pump up the tempo – Austin Reaves with a nice feed to LeBron James for a dunk.
Minnesota did not slow down to feel comfortable as the Laker continued to apply the pressing offense that saw them build a fourteen-point lead. Shot after shot the Timberwolves missed while LA garnered a dominating 19 point lead. The night then took a historic turn at the four-minute mark when LeBron and Bronny James checked in together, becoming the first father-son team in an NBA game.
But with 4:32 left, the Timberwolves came back and cut the lead to eight. The team on the offense and defense started exchanging buckets as the match became something of a seesaw. But none of that mattered, Anthony Davis was all over the place; collecting rebounds, altering shots and even making a one leg fade way. They were effectively controlled by him in all aspect to help Lakers win.
Then, came the final knock out punch. In the final moments of the game it was LeBron James of the Lakers who put a final nail in Minnesota’s coffin by making a three-pointer.
The Lakers particularly wanted it more, especially during defensive plays and when in the issue of board retrievals. Even during their struggling times, their hustle was apparent, and the all-out fight on the boards was a wash they got from the game.
An impressive statistic? In the whole game how many mistakes did I make? Just seven! It’s not something that you’re going to be able to have all year round though because as the season goes on, that close in ball control will be a necessity. More questions, though, remain with respect to how well they perform toss up and outside of the arc. Although the outside shooting was terrible the Lakers set up a lot of catch and shoot opportunities which should translate well forward.
