Ayase Ueda Celebrates Debut Trophy Win as Feyenoord Seize Dutch Cup Glory

Ayase Ueda, who plays as a striker for the Japan men's football team, experienced the joy of winning his first career title on Sunday. This achievement came as Feyenoord, despite being down to 10 players, secured victory in the Dutch Cup final with a 1-0 win over NEC Nijmegen. It marked a significant milestone in Ueda's career and was undoubtedly a moment of pride and celebration for him.

In the decisive match, the 25-year-old player was substituted onto the field in the 75th minute. It's worth noting that the opposing team, NEC, had Japanese attackers Koki Ogawa and Kodai Sano among their lineup.

At Rotterdam's De Kuip stadium, the Brazilian player Igor Paixao scored the decisive goal in the 59th minute, securing the victory for his team. However, the home side encountered a challenge when their winger, Yankuba Minteh, received his second yellow card in the 72nd minute. As a result, they had to play the remainder of the match with only ten players, adding an extra layer of difficulty to their task.

In an added twist of drama, the match experienced two interruptions due to incidents in the stands. The second pause was particularly notable, triggered by a banner catching fire. This incident generated a substantial amount of smoke within the stadium, adding to the spectacle and excitement of the match.

Feyenoord's triumph in the Dutch Cup final represents their first victory in the competition since 2018, indicating a return to success for the team after several years. On the other hand, NEC, despite their efforts, has not yet managed to win the prestigious trophy. This contrast highlights the differing fortunes and aspirations of the two clubs in the tournament.

"It's my first title as a professional. I'm not sure how much I contributed, but it's a feeling I've never felt before," Ueda, who transferred to Feyenoord from Belgium's Cercle Brugge last summer, expressed his thoughts.

Upon entering the match, the former Kashima Antlers forward was 1ly engaged but failed to capitalize on an opportunity to widen Rotterdam's lead. "It was a chance to show my worth to the club. I need to score in those situations," he said.

Ogawa, who earned a call-up to the Samurai Blue squad for last month's Asian World Cup qualifiers, expressed disappointment at not winning the title despite making significant contributions throughout NEC's cup campaign. "I have to make a game-winning impact by scoring in matches like this,"

In the European football scene, Takumi Minamino made a notable impact by scoring his eighth goal of the season while playing in the French Ligue 1. His contribution played a crucial role in Monaco's 2-0 win over Brest, highlighting his effectiveness on the field and the team's success in the match.
