Brian Windhorst: "People in the League Just Don’t Respect the Thunder" as True Contenders

Brian Windhorst: "People in the League Just Don’t Respect the Thunder" as True Contenders

The Western conference leaders Oklahoma City displayed indomitable strength during their season run following their victory against Utah Jazz immediately after the All-Star break. Thunder fans have accustomed themselves to the unprecedented level of destruction their team performs against opponents.

The Oklahoma City team maintains a staggering +13.1 point lead in every contest and currently leads the Western Conference standings by an 8.5-game margin. These 45 wins against 10 losses create the best opening streak in team history while positioning the Thunder for one of the most successful regular NBA seasons.

Oklahoma City's initial season performance stands out for its remarkable achievements throughout the first several games. The team stands at the beginning of its full potential realization. The Thunder strengthened their team by adding Chet Holmgren to their roster thus setting themselves up to succeed at a higher level. All indicators suggest that this team will become a legendary defensive force in NBA history based on their metrics and advanced statistics. The team's consistent gameplay has elevated their status to potential NBA champions. Despite their remarkable achievement it seems inconceivable that mainstream recognition has not fully acknowledged them yet.

Critics persist in believing there is an experience gap affecting OKC's rise even though youth remains an easy weapon for them to minimize the team's progress. Opponents' systematic defeat at this level of accuracy produces doubts that transform into unwillingness to accept the team's inevitable triumph.

On national television one of the league's most prominent voice articulated precisely that point. All Warriors deserve to show confidence because they ruled through an astounding timeframe of winning. Draymond Green proclaimed his team would secure another championship win although the underlying message was evident to all observers.

Players and teams such as Green together with the Warriors believe they can secure the championship because Oklahoma City has not proven itself as a championship threat. Dismissing the concrete statistical evidence backing Oklahoma City Thunder's title potential constitutes a serious blunder because of doubts about the team's inexperienced lineup and reserve personnel and health stability.

“I’m sorry. I said I think we’re going to win a championship, but I lied. We are going to win the championship.” Green said before the All-Star Game, “Since he Jimmy has been here, we’ve walked into every game thinking and believing we’re going to win that game.”

This inexperienced NBA roster has proven itself in official games and could surprise the entire league during their postseason run. Since their arrival they aim to disrupt their opposition.

“The Thunder are the youngest team in the NBA, you do not see the youngest team in any sport win. And so if you’re sitting back like the Warriors, and you’re trying to build something here, you see that as a target,”  Brian Windhorst said, “The reality is, people in the league just don’t respect the Thunder!”
