Chiefs Pursue Historic Super Bowl Milestone After 18 Years in Mahomes Era, Fueled by 'Dad Bod'

Chiefs Pursue Historic Super Bowl Milestone After 18 Years in Mahomes Era, Fueled by 'Dad Bod'

After seven weeks the Kansas City Chiefs are the NFL's final undefeated team. There may be a secret curse associated with their flawless record, though. It hasn't exactly been a positive sign to be the last squad without a loss during the last 15 years. Since 2009, the last undefeated team has failed to win the Lombardi Trophy. The Colts, led by Peyton Manning, were the last team to do this. They started the 2006 season with a 9-0 record and ended it with Manning's first Super Bowl victory.

This indicates that the Chiefs are looking for the opportunity to end an 18-year run of losing teams. And if they succeed, history will be made—Kansas City will become the first club in NFL history to win three straight Super Bowls.

On the end zone as Patrick Mahomes scurried over the middle on a pivotal fourth-and-goal. The quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs was aware of the stakes because he was only one yard away from scoring the game-winning touchdown. He rushed forward without hesitancy, his determination exploding as he cut through the pocket.

Mahomes weighed 225 pounds, so a rookie safety wasn't going to stop him. Malik Mustapha of the San Francisco 49ers struck him with the intention of knocking him down with a blow to the left shoulder, but the youngster took the brunt of the impact. Standing tall as he scored the touchdown that sealed the victory, Mahomes blasted through, throwing Mustapha off balance, and crossed the goal line.

“Just ended up looking good for me.”

“I actually was not trying to lower my shoulder,” Mahomes said. “I was trying to absorb the hit because I was going to be right there in the end zone. But that dad bod, man. Had enough weight on me where he went down.”

Despite recording the lowest passer rating in his 102 games, Patrick Mahomes secured the first 6-0 start of his career on a day that combined success and hardship. This dramatic contrast demonstrates Mahomes' remarkable ability to elicit defensive attention and praise as well as his ability to modify his style of play to suit the situation.

It's clear that his current stats—just six touchdown passes and eight interceptions—are far from what the Chiefs need in order to win. Mahomes must improve this season in order to lead his club to victory on a regular basis.
