Max Verstappen Tops Practice Session at Austrian Grand Prix, Edging Out Everyone

The man who was consistently seen challenging Max Verstappen in the last five races was Lando Norris of McLaren who was leading the lap when he went off at Turn Four to end up at thirteenth place. Nevertheless, Norris was also performing the quickest first sector time, meaning there was stiff competition among the drivers.

McLaren will debut a new front wing in an attempt to get more performance when racing through slow speed corner this weekend.

In the first stint of the two segments, Hamilton and George Russell of Mercedes chose not to switch to soft compound tires that are advantageous on the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya for their latter flying laps. They thus slid to fifth and eighth position on the timing charts once other racers completed their qualification emulation.

Max Verstappen was victorious ahead of Oscar Piastri by a margin of 0. 276 seconds and left behind by overtaking other competitors. Third fastest was Charles Leclerc of Ferrari, who was also pursued by teammate Carlos Sainz by merely 0. undefined In the last position, Im talking about the sixth place Lance Stroll of Aston Martin was defeated by Esteban Ocon of Alpine.

Russell also lost a position and ranked ninth, leaving behind Red Bull’s Yuki Tsunada and Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso.

Max Verstappen, the 2021 world champion suffered a dramatic engine failure on the pits during practice which lasted only a few laps and as teams raced side by side in what is the last practice session before qualifying for the sprint race that will happen later on Friday. Red Bull was particularly concerned about this event because the Dutchman has been drinking his engine sparing for a controlled explosion and has been on the verge of getting a grid penalty. He was compelled to run four engines all throughout the season after a mishap in the previous race in Canada.

The same happened to Verstappen’s vehicle which was quickly restarted by the crew once it was returned to the pits and the driver can complete the rest of the session without any further issues.

Meanwhile, Leclerc was unable to finish a flying lap since he missed crossing the line in time. He will start in P10.
