The fight between the two fighters was originally scheduled to be held at the AT&T Stadium in July and was billed as the headliner for Netflix’s live boxing event. Regrettably, an unforeseen health issue pulled the outstanding heavyweight champion out of the contest a few weeks prior.
Thus, on the original fight date, Paul fought bare-knuckle fighter Mike Perry and enhanced his record to 10-1 for a knockout. Tonight, it became known that due to the change in the location of the fight of the best fighters, the fans of the show at Fanatics Fest in New York decided to reschedule the fight for November 15th.
Both Mike Tyson and Jake Paul hyped their highly anticipated fight, which has been postponed, will now happen on Friday, November 15, at the Jacob K. Javits Center in New York starting at afternoon. As the event’s villain, Paul feigned attack on emcee Ryan Clark while Tyson appeared to be eager, even though not so brutal as he once was.
The doctors advised that the 58-year-old legend should cease training for some time after Tyson pulled out due to a severe ulcer flare up during a flight. He did clarify that to Bloody Elbow he is back in camp, and prepared for the new date which he stated to the press today.
“I’ve been training for a while, two weeks or three weeks and I’m okay to fight… I’m in camp right now.” When asked about his most recent medical update from the physicians, Tyson answered. “I’m beautiful and I’ve been training,”
Thousands of the enthusiastic fans were at its climax when the fan fest was held on the last day in New York venue. While Paul used to seem delighted by the native audience especially whenever they were heckling his opponent, Tyson was unusually calm.
This perhaps was because with threats to “f*** him up”, Tyson was audaciously demanding for a brutal fight, while Paul was the one ruling the roost with his words. He invited her for a date where the bitterness started and insulted the boxing great by saying that he was too scared to face him.
“You had to go on your little menopause break and postpone the fight,” Paul goaded during an heated face-to-face. “So yeah, what about that, dog? I was ready before, you needed a little break, does your tummy hurt?”
In his spare time away from fight camp Tyson remained active in the media limelight and appeared at numerous glittering celebrity functions. He came to the Terence Crawford vs Israil Madrimov fight which took place earlier this month at the press conference and after the announcement of the new fight date.
Tyson was sitting at ringside right next to Turki Alalshikh, with Riyadh Season presenting the premiere of the event in Los Angeles. Former fighter turned radio show host Kurt Alexander, also known as “Big Boy,” corroborated Tyson’s readiness in the episode even though the latter had stopped training at that time.
‘I believe he’s always willing to go to war,’ Big Boy said about Tyson. “He was ready to fight tonight! Hell yeah I would go watch Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson That’s one of the Jake fights I would go to I love Jake he was so good with my family I would never say nothing bad about that brother.”
Some fighters like Mike Tyson, who was once the most intimidating and strongest puncher in the history of boxing, retains this invincible look that does not diminish with age or failure. Yet, there are many who still remember the boxer as the most fearsome personality in sports, capable of making people shiver at the sound of his voice.
Despite Paul’s aggressive behavior during the news conference and constant belittling of Tyson, New Yorkers cheered for the latter the loudest. In one of the most horrific events of the evening, Tyson calmly responded to one of Paul’s rants.
“You better come in shape,” he warned, before adding that “Your health depends on it.” Paul reacted by mocking him over the length of rounds, which have been sanctioned as two minutes instead of the standard three despite the bout even being confirmed as a professional bout.
The social media star was in his troll mode during the show calling on the fans to shout ‘f*** Jake Paul’ and joking about him being a ‘YouTuber’. He also generalized and ridiculed the host city, New York, stating that it has become less great.
“Hey New York, shut the f*** up New York,” he replied after being showered with boos by fans at the event. “Boo yourself. “Aye, New York. You’re just like Mike Tyson, you were good 20 years ago, f*** you New York. Dumbass Democratic city!”
