Currently dominating the court, Nikola Jokic, the All-NBA center for the Denver Nuggets, appears virtually unstoppable.
In the initial two matchups of the playoff series versus the Los Angeles Lakers, both resulting in wins for his team, the 6'11" 29-year-old player has showcased exceptional performance. Averaging 29.5 points per game with an impressive shooting percentage of .615/.429/.889 (no errors here), along with securing an average of 16 rebounds, 8.5 assists, and two steals per game, he has been instrumental in steering his team to remarkable come-from-behind victories with double-digit leads.
Outside of the basketball arena, it seems that his brothers are becoming overly enthusiastic or overly involved in his games or performances.
Christian Gallegos, a fan, recorded an incident where Nikola Jokic's older brother, Strahinja Jokic, was involved in a physical altercation. The altercation occurred during Monday's Game 2 victory at Ball Arena, with Strahinja seen throwing a punch at a male spectator. Additionally, Jokic's other brother, Nemanja, and his wife, Natalija, were present during the incident, as captured in the video shared by Gallegos.
According to Morgan Whitley of Fox 31 KDVR, local authorities are looking into the incident, although no formal reports have been made to the police yet.
“The incident was not reported to Denver Police at the arena or after the game was over, and at this time, no one has come forward as a victim of this incident," The statement provided to Whitley by the Denver Police Department mentioned. "The Department is looking into this incident, is 1ly working to identify the person in the video who was struck, and encourages anyone who was involved or witnessed this firsthand to contact the Denver Police Department.”
In 2021, during a regular season game between the Miami Heat, led by Markieff Morris, and the Denver Nuggets, captained by Nikola Jokic, a controversial incident occurred. Following an elbow to Jokic's ribs by Morris, Jokic responded by charging at Morris from behind and shoving him, leading to a heated altercation between the two teams.
Following the on-court altercation between Nikola Jokic and Markieff Morris, tensions escalated beyond the basketball court. The Jokic brothers took to social media to address comments made by Marcus Morris regarding their brother's actions. This digital exchange continued for a year, with the Jokic brothers hinting at potential reprisals.
Due to the shove from Jokic, combined with a prior neck injury, Morris was sidelined for four months, impacting his availability for gameplay.
Strahinja, the older brother of the two-time MVP player, Nikola Jokic, has faced involvement in two separate off-court incidents that were unrelated to his brother's basketball career. Specifically, in 2019, there were reports of Strahinja's arrest on charges of allegedly choking and pushing a woman who attempted to leave his apartment. Subsequently, he was also accused of confiscating her phone during the altercation.
Reportedly in 2022, he pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor charges related to obstructing phone service and felony trespassing. Under the terms of his plea deal, the courts agreed to dismiss the misdemeanors if he maintained a clean record for one year.
