Ozeki Kotozakura Secures Crucial Victory, Ties for Lead in Summer Basho Showdown

Ozeki Kotozakura Secures Crucial Victory, Ties for Lead in Summer Basho Showdown

On the Day 13 of the Summer Basho, the winner of the championship was decided in the major match involving Ozeki Kotozakura and Shonannoumi. Despite facing a deadly opponent in the ring, Kotozakura emerged as the winner after a grueling fight. Thus, this victory let him maintain his position as a leader on the board, proving his determination and desire as the contest continued to an end. When Kotozakura came face to face with Shonannoumi who was also desperate to win and to elevate his ranking the situation clearly showed that he was fully determined fully prepared and thinking before his action. Kotozakura was able to make a reaction for the face-off during the match. He was able to avoid his opponent with great agility and then seized an opening to defeat Shonannoumi in a flash. The victory made Kotozakura to have a record of 10-3 and equal with Onosato in the ranking of komusubi. While Kotozakura was able to outmaneuver his opponent through impressive tactics and reflexes to win the match, some viewer confusion and doubt among other wrestlers arose from his sidestepping in response to his opponent’s strike. These actions are often regarded as flights, which contradict the essence of sumo wrestling since this sport is as simple and confrontational as possible. However, Shonannoumi, ranked tenth among maegashira contenders, fell and forfeited a bout, so his performance was one win behind the wrestlers in the top five spots with scores of 9-4. Mongolian Hoshoryu delivered a devastating arm-lock and pulled off a tough-fought win in the last bout of the day at Tokyo’s Ryogoku Kokugikan in the Summer Grand Sumo Tournament forcing Midorifuji to a 9-4 pack pursuing performance. Midorifuji settled for sixth but finished the tournament at 5-8; this greatly affected his position. In the first match of this imminent battle, the Komusubi Onosato subdued Ura showing his strength and supremacy to become invincible. A powerful push from Onosato within the shortest time possible sending the fourth-ranked maegashira tumbling out of the dohyo into sits of the second row. After this effervescent performance, Onosato improved his record to a fantastic 10-3 for the tournament, enhancing his status as the pinnacle of the competition. Ura, however, fared worse, bringing his record to 6-7 and looked helpless as he was beaten for the sixth time in a row. Despite much proposition and a natural large bulky uncouth and relentless exterminating persona Ura has not spared a low stance to initiate a face-off but his opponent have been on guard and can avert him. It was a splendid performance sony as Sekiwate Abi performed the sumo dohyo with lot of dedication and fleetness. Abi parried all of Meisei’s moves with extreme speed and dexterity and executed a sheer drop at the corner of the ring floor, delivering a powerful canadian drive to his opponent’s body sending him spiraling to the canvas. This win saw Abi’s record improve to a fantastic 9-4-The victory was a giant step in the right direction towards the projected sumo stardom. The remaining match of the day was between Meisei, who was rated fifth among the maegashira and thereafter, he lost and was with 8-5. In the meantime, Wakamotoharu faced Oshoma in Sekiwake and had an exciting performance in the dohyo. Wakamotoharu was then able to outsmart Oshoma in the distracted fight and grab the belt to free himself and take charge. Wakamotoharu ‘s record also rose to four winning bouts, six losing bouts and three scrub bouts, after sending the inexperienced makuuchi division wrestler out of the dohyo. But for Mongolia's No. The Koto-shinji match seemed to be a turning point for 14 maegashira Oshoma. Oshoma Could not stand prejudice of Wakamotoharu’s attack even though at first Oshoma had competed relatively well and was leading most of the time. Although Oshoma emerged victorious, his record after the defeat was 9-4; this only goes to show that the fate of wrestlers in sumo matches are unpredictable especially due to the intense fighting that occurs on the dohyo.
