Steph Curry highlights the direct connection between NBA and golf as The Match approaches.

Steph Curry, the Golden State Warriors guard, is renowned for his success in professional basketball. As a four-time NBA Champion and NBA Finals MVP, he is widely regarded as the greatest shooter in basketball history. However, what often goes unnoticed is Curry's exceptional golf skills. Despite being a professional basketball player, he boasts an impressive near scratch handicap, showcasing his remarkable talent on the golf course.

On Thursday night, Curry teamed up with his Warriors teammate Klay Thompson for The Match, facing off against the Kansas City Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce.

Before participating in the eighth edition of this charity event that has raised over $35 million, Curry made an appearance on the PGA Tour's Smylie Kaufman podcast.

The legendary point guard, destined for the Hall of Fame, discussed the potential impact of the NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness) on his college career, reminisced about the most crucial shot he ever made, and confirmed a fascinating anecdote: Jordan Spieth once inquired with President Obama about the existence of aliens while playing golf.

What stood out as particularly remarkable was the direct connection that Curry established between the NBA and the game of golf.

Those quiet times on the bench, in between time outs or whether it is a dead ball, there’s a lot of inner dialogue going on. And when I get nervous on the golf course it is the same thing,” Curry said. “Whether it is in between shots or whether over the ball, when you are trying not to think of anything but you feel the moment, just positive self talk.”

He even went as far as referencing his recent championship victory against the Boston Celtics last summer.

“I remember in the Finals last year there was just a lot of ‘Be great’ conversations to yourself and a lot of different ways that you talk about it and kind of get yourself going. That’s the biggest similarity for me... You have to kind of work on it.”

Listening to one of the all-time great basketball players discuss his inner thoughts and challenges was incredibly fascinating.

It's evident that he has truly mastered that skill, as evidenced by his Game 4 performance that completely shifted the momentum of the series and ultimately led to a championship victory, much to the dismay of Celtics fans who may never forget it.
