Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Dodgers suffered a left shoulder injury while attempting to steal a base during the seventh inning of Game 2 of the World Series at Dodger Stadium. After the game, manager Dave Roberts indicated that the injury was a subluxation but remains hopeful about Ohtani's participation in Game 3 at Yankee Stadium on October 29.
Roberts stated, "If he feels he can go, there’s no reason not to play him," noting that Ohtani looked good and is scheduled to start. The injury occurred when Ohtani slammed his left hand into the ground during the steal, causing a partial dislocation. Though he left the stadium immediately post-game without commenting on his condition, Roberts reassured fans by saying that Ohtani's shoulder strength and range of motion appear unaffected.
Before the team's practice, Roberts shared that doctors were still evaluating Ohtani's condition but reported that morning assessments indicated he was doing well. After receiving tests separate from the team, Ohtani was expected to join practice and engage in hitting drills.
