Jannik Sinner Secures Second Grand Slam of the Year with Straight-Sets Victory over Taylor Fritz at US Open

Jannik Sinner Secures Second Grand Slam of the Year with Straight-Sets Victory over Taylor Fritz at US Open

Jannik Sinner shows his dominance at baseline by beating Taylor Fritz and clinching the title of the U. S. Open men’s champ in straight sets 6-3, 6-4, 7-5. Sinner’s victory was even more remarkable given that the victory came just weeks after Sinner was cleared of a doping charge. He is the current number one and he bagged a second Grand Slam in the Australian Open tournament earlier this year at the age of 23. By doing so, he also continued the 21-year major title wait for the American men, thus denying Fritz a chance to cause such a change.

Andy Rodick’s victory in 2003 U. S. The last instance of a man from America having been crowned a Grand Slam champion was at Open. After Roddick’s straight set defeat in the Wimbledon final in 2009 against Federer no other American man had been able to reach another major final until Fritz’s latest participation. However, Sinner’s excellent form dealt a major blow to Fritz’s anticipated winning streak.

Sinner emerged victorious and took his 2024 record to a mind-blowing 55-5 coupled with the six triumphant titles. Thus, Sinner achieved a 35-2 record on hard courts, which can be considered as the result of the first two Grand Slam titles were won by him in the same season since 1977 of the year, when the similar indicator can boast of the achievements of Guillermo Vilas. Serbian star along with world-class players like Djokovic, Nadal and even Federer never accomplished this achievement.

Days before the Flushing Meadows competition got underway, unexpected news leaked out: Sinner had twice violated the anti-doping rules after testing positive to anabolic steroids in March. However, he was acquitted shortly thereafter because it was discovered that the prohibited substance got into his system via a massage by a member of the team who had been let go.

The fans were on the side of Fritz, as expected, due to the massive home crowd support on a fine afternoon under the sun. The atmosphere was completely electrifying; of course, Travis Kelce was present, and Taylor Swift was in the event as well. There were moments of high tension during the match due to some of the spectators who chanted ‘U-S-A!’ between games and others stood up every time Fritz seemed to clinch a very important point.

There is no doubt that Fritz possesses an excellent ability to manage his emotions which, at most, are restrained by a subtle shake of his head and a brightly colored racket in his hand. Despite an exceptionally bad error on a smash that caused him to lose the serve and later broke in the first set, he could only smirk sardonically.

Not even Sinner was spared from the pressure. There were moments of tension seen in his game and it was due to a lapse in concentration, a double-fault and other unforced errors, Fritz came back into the game. Not thirty minutes into the play, the America side had managed to take a 3-2 lead in the entire game.

Fritz’s overhead smash at 3:all in the third set satisfied the viewers and shouted let’s go as fans cheered at 15–30. A minute later, they cheered when he did the same with the same force and energy to score another winning shot volley to get the breaking point. Serving at 4–3, Fritz took a two-set lead after Sinner double-faulted.

However, Fritz’s game went awry as he got more pressed when serving for the set at 5-4. Sinner pulled Fritz forward with a drop shot and Fritz hit a passing shot that made Sinner see the ball sail over him and land in the net. After the episode, Fritz threw his racket against the floor and started cursing while Sinner was completely focused and calm as he headed to the towel box.

Sinner was the second Italian to achieve the victory at the U. S. Open on singles by the end of the match. O, mimando a Flavia Pennetta, vencedora do feminino de 2015. His performance was excellent, 21 lab-induced errors were made (13 of which were less than Fritz) and 23 victories were won.

Before the match even began, one could deduce that in order to win this match, Fritz would have to bring his best performance, starting with serves. They did not turn out as planned during the opening set, though. Sinner has a more dominating baseline play and precise shot-making which saw Fritz backed into defending mode from the early going this suggested that Fritz was yet to match the Italian and would have it tough to emerge.
