Seiya Suzuki put on a spectacular show as the Chicago Cubs crushed the Oakland Athletics 10-2 at Sutter Health Park. The star outfielder went 3-for-5 with two home runs and five RBIs, extending his multi-hit streak to four games.
After hitting a home run in the previous game, Suzuki stepped up once again. In the first inning, he displayed patience at the plate, drawing a walk on a full count.
In the second inning, with two outs and runners on first and third, Suzuki took advantage of a first-pitch 144 km/h (89 mph) fastball from Oakland’s starter Jeffrey Springs, launching a powerful shot into the left-center stands for a three-run homer.
His momentum carried into the fourth inning when he faced reliever Mitch Spence. Despite being down in the count due to a barrage of breaking balls, Suzuki adjusted and crushed a 150 km/h (93 mph) cutter over the right-field fence for his second home run of the game.
In the seventh inning, Suzuki continued his offensive rampage, adding an RBI single to left field. His final stat line of 3-for-5 with five RBIs solidified his dominance at the plate.
After struggling in the season-opening series against the Dodgers in Tokyo (0-for-8 with four strikeouts), Suzuki has found his rhythm, now batting .275 with four home runs and a .958 OPS.
