On November 5 (November 6, Japan Time), the Los Angeles Dodgers announced that Shohei Ohtani underwent successful arthroscopic surgery on his left shoulder. The injury, which occurred during the World Series, was a dislocation that caused damage to his shoulder's labrum. The team has confirmed that Ohtani’s recovery is progressing well, and he is expected to be ready for spring training next season.
The injury took place on October 26 (October 27, Japan time) during Game 2 of the World Series against the New York Yankees, when Ohtani attempted to steal a base. After the game, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts described the injury as a "subluxation" of the shoulder. Despite the setback, Ohtani continued to play through Game 5 of the series. Though he showed signs of discomfort, he managed to play through the pain, even hitting a key single in Game 4. To minimize the strain on his injured shoulder while running the bases, Ohtani was seen holding his jersey by the neck to reduce pressure on the affected area.
With the surgery now completed, Ohtani is on track to recover in time for the start of the upcoming spring training, ensuring that he will be ready for the 2025 MLB season.
